One of the greatest cricketers of all time, MS Dhoni is a true legend of the game, not just for what he brought on the field but the human being he is. While the wicket-keeper batter isn’t an international cricketer anymore, he has started to practice ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. While fans were thankful to see Dhoni back to playing cricket, it was his bat sticker that made headlines. Dhoni’s gesture for his old friend, by using the name of the latter’s shop on his bat’s sticker earned him plenty of plaudits. But, it wasn’t the first time Dhoni helped someone with such a gesture.

Another story that has surfaced on social media involves bat manufacturer BAS whose bat the Ranchi-born cricketer used during the early days of his career.

In a video shared on social media, the owner of BAS, Mr. Somi Kohli, revealed how Dhoni let go of a contract worth crores and used the bat manufacturer’s sticker instead, as a payback for the help he got during his early days as a cricketer.

“Dhoni did not mention any money. He just said ‘put your stickers on my bats and send them across’. I tried to convince him, ‘You’re letting go of such a lucrative contract’. He refused crores of rupees worth of contract. I requested his wife Sakshi, his father, mother. Even told his CA and Paramjit from Ranchi. They all went to his home before the World Cup. But he said ‘No… it is my decision’,” Mr. Kohli said in a video.

In a picture that had surfaced on social media recently, Dhoni was seen playing with a ‘Prime Sports’ bat in the nets. It was a move by the former India captain to pay back to his friend who owns the local sports shop.

Even the legendary Adam Gilchrist talked about the gesture by Dhoni while doing commentary during the second T20I between Australia and West Indies.
