Violence-hit Pakistan awaits poll results; Trump not immune from 2020 election

Pakistan went for voting on Thursday amid chaos as the elections was marred by violence and voters were left clueless due to the suspension of mobile phone services.

Having lost network connectivity, the citizens of Pakistan claimed to have voted without knowing whom they are voting for.

The government’s decision to suspend mobile connectivity came a day after jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan urged his supporters to wait outside polling booths after voting until results are announced.

Tense situations prevailed in several violence-hit regions due to which the Election Commission of Pakistan failed to put out the result on time.

Meanwhile, in the United States, a federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled that Donald Trump does not have immunity from charges that he plotted to overturn his 2020 election defeat, bringing the former US President a step closer to an unprecedented criminal trial.

A three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected Trump’s claim that he cannot be prosecuted because the allegations relate to his official responsibilities as President.
