Venkataramana Pittala, a 27-year-old student from Telangana, died in a jet ski collision in the US state of Florida. He was pursuing a Master’s Degree from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

According to a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds to send his mortal remains back to his family in Telangana, the incident took place on March 9, just months before he was scheduled to graduate in May.

“The collision between two jet skis resulted in his untimely death,” it said.

A report by the Miami-based WPLG Local 10 news channel said the accident took place near a waterpark in the island city of Key West.

Citing the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the report said that a 14-year-old boy was operating one of the jet skis.

The Commission did not mention any arrests, adding that the boy was not injured in the accident.
