An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale hit Afghanistan on Sunday, said the National Center for Seismology. The quake occurred at a depth of 120 kilometres at around 2.26 am IST.
A few minutes later, at around 2.47 am, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Kishtwar region in Jammu and Kashmir.
Another earthquake of similar magnitude struck Afghanistan a few days ago on March 28. The 4.2 magnitude quake had struck at around 5.44 am IST.
Earlier in January, a 6.1 earthquake struck near Afghanistan and the tremors were felt in Delhi and adjoining areas.
Last year in October, thousands were killed or injured when a powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook western Afghanistan.
