South Korea’s opposition party chief Lee Jae-myung stabbed in neck during visit to Busan

The leader of South Korea’s opposition party, Lee Jae-myung, was stabbed in the neck by an unidentified assailant during his visit to the southern port city of Busan on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters.

Lee was stabbed on the left side of his neck by an unidentified man wielding a weapon while touring the proposed airport site in Busan, according to the Reuters report. The assailant was subdued and arrested at the scene.

A video of the incident, shared on social media, shows the South Korean opposition leader talking to reporters before he gets stabbed by someone in the crowd.

Photographs accompanying the news depicted Lee on the ground, eyes closed, with others applying pressure to the side of his neck using a handkerchief.

Following the attack, Lee was promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention, the report added.
