Kate Middleton doing well, says office, slams rumours of disappearance

Kate Middleton’s representative has refuted rumours of her disappearance following her planned abdominal surgery in January. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales last made her public appearance on Christmas, when she attended church with the royal family.

Rumours regarding her disappearance were fuelled this week when Prince William skipped a memorial service for his godfather, the late King Constantine of Greece, due to a personal matter, NBC News reported.

Following that, Kate Middleton’s name began trending on X, wherein hundreds of memes, jokes and conspiracy theories began flooding the platform. But now, her team has stepped up and dismissed rumours surrounding Kate Middleton and said she was “doing well”.

“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates,” her representative told The New York Post. “That guidance stands,” the representative said.

In a January 17 statement, Kensington Palace, the residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, said that Kate Middleton is not expected to return to public duties until after Easter following the surgery.

Earlier this month, a Spanish media outlet reported about Kate Middleton’s health and claimed that she was in “great danger” as she slipped into a coma, according to people.com.

However, a Kensington Palace source rubbished the claims as “total nonsense” and “totally made up”.

“It’s total nonsense. No attempt was made by that journalist to fact-check anything that she said with anyone in the household. It’s fundamentally, totally made-up, and I’ll use polite English here: it’s absolutely not the case,” a palace source told The Times.

On January 16, the Princess of Wales underwent planned abdominal surgery at The London Clinic, the palace said. While her diagnosis was kept under wraps, it is believed to be non-cancerous, people.com reported.

Kate Middleton returned to her Windsor home on January 26 and is continuing to recover.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible, and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the palace said in a statement.

It also said it will, therefore, only provide updates on Kate Middleton’s health “when there is significant new information to share”.

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible,” the palace stated.
