What if your partner does not appreciate the birthday party you organise for them? A Missouri woman thought of poisoning her husband. 47-year-old Lebanese Michelle Y Peters was allegedly caught putting weed killer in her spouse’s Mountain Dew. Why? Because he did not appreciate the 50th birthday party she threw him.

She was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, according to the court documents, the New York Post reported.

When questioned about the reason behind her actions, Peters told authorities that she wanted to be “mean” to her husband, as he was not appreciative of the party she organised.

In a hair-turning twist, Peters’ husband told the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office earlier that day that he believed his wife was poisoning him.

To begin the chain of events, he allegedly started noticing that the Diet Mountain Dew “tasted weird,” the police stated.

He ignored the taste at first and kept drinking the dew. However, a few weeks later, he started experiencing a sore throat, nausea, diarrhoea, and vomiting.

The police report also stated that he was coughing thick, brown-yellow mucus.

He soon became suspicious and looked back at the security footage.

The footage allegedly showed his wife taking the soda from the fridge and a bottle of weed killer into the house. A few moments later, she returned and placed both items back in their original spots.

The husband told police that he attempted to alter his routine and put new, untampered bottles in the fridge, only for his wife to supposedly keep poisoning them.

The original bottle of the weed killer was also empty, and the fresh bottle was ready to go in its place, the husband claimed.

As per the warrant, when the husband tried to complain about feeling sick to his wife, she told him that he “probably had COVID” and asked him “to stay away from the grandkids.”

Peters’ husband said he was not sure if his wife was having an affair or if she was looking to collect on his 500,000 US Dollars life insurance policy. He also noted that she had “dramatically reduced” the money she had been transferring to their personal account from a business account.
