In the heart of Valencia, Spain, a devastating fire claimed the lives of at least four individuals and leaving 19 others unaccounted for.
The inferno, which erupted in the Campanar neighborhood, mercilessly engulfed a 14-storey apartment block before spreading to an adjoining building. The rapid spread of the flames was attributed to the highly flammable polyurethane cladding that adorned the structure.
Amidst the chaos, residents found themselves trapped on balconies, desperately awaiting rescue. The emergency response was swift, with 22 firefighting units and five ambulances rushing to the scene, where a field hospital was promptly established.
Among the injured were a child and six brave firefighters who battled the blaze.
