Portugal air show planes collided midair and crashed killing one pilot

In southern Portugal on Sunday, a midair collision between two small planes during an air show resulted in the death of one pilot and the injury of another, according to the air force.

“At 4:05 pm (1505 GMT), during an aerial demonstration involving six aircraft at the Beja Air Show, two planes were involved in an accident,” the air force reported in a brief statement.

The statement confirmed the deceased was a Spanish national, who was the pilot of one of the planes. An air force spokeswoman informed AFP of the pilot’s identity.
