Full Moon Importance

Each Purnima is associated with specific rituals and fasts. Devotees often observe fasts, perform pujas, and give donations. It is believed that worshipping Purnima brings prosperity, happiness, and spiritual growth.

According to religious belief, by worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi on the full moon, a person receives special blessings, and all his wishes are fulfilled. Along with this, the full moon date also has scientific importance. On this day, due to the effect of the gravitational force of the Sun and the Moon, there is a tide in the sea, due to which this day also becomes a symbol of the power of nature.

Full Moon Rituals

On the day of the fast, get up early in the morning, take a bath, and wear clean clothes. Take special care of physical and mental purity.

Keep a complete fast on this day. You can drink water and eat fruits but do not eat food. If the physical condition does not allow fasting, then you can eat fruits.

On the day of the fast, worship Lord Vishnu and the moon. Clean the place of worship in the house light a lamp there and offer flowers, rice, incense, lamps, and naivedya in front of the idol or picture of God.

Be sure to listen to the story of Purnima Vrat. This increases the fruits of the fast manifold.

Participate in religious satsang on this day and enjoy the bhajans and kirtans of God. This gives peace and comfort to the mind.

Donation has special importance on this day. Donate food, clothes, and money to the poor and needy. Feeding green fodder to the Mother Cow is also considered auspicious.

When the moon rises at night, offer arghya to them. For this, fill water in a copper pot add rice, flowers, and some milk to it, and offer arghya to the moon.

Follow good conduct and celibacy on the day of the fast. Stay away from wrong thoughts and actions. The next day, take a bath in the morning worship Lord Vishnu, and end the fast.

After this, feed Brahmins or the poor and then eat yourself.

Behave with restraint on the day of the fast and stay away from unnecessary anger, disputes, and negative activities.
