Flames, fury & finger-pointing: Los Angeles wildfire crisis ignites heated debate

Now, to really add fuel to the fire is Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass — reported to be in Ghana during the outbreak of the wildfires. Her trip, including attending the inauguration of Ghana’s president, certainly does raise questions.

The fire may be contained, but the flames of controversy are still burning brightly as debate over preparedness and leadership of the LAFD continues to spread. Supporters of Chief Crowley argue that diversity and inclusion strengthen the department, while critics contend that traditional firefighting skills and resources should take precedence.
