Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez, a 23-year-old Colombian woman, known as “La Muñeca” or “The Doll,” has been arrested for her alleged involvement in several targeted killings, including the ambush-style murder of her ex-boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus.
EX-BOYFRIEND MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD
According to a police report, Rodriguez lured Jesus into a trap by asking him to meet her under the pretext of resolving a money dispute. When he arrived, two assailants on a motorcycle shot him dead, reportedly at Rodriguez’s behest.
Authorities revealed that the killings were orchestrated by Rodriguez, allegedly acting under the direction of the Los de la M gang, a criminal organisation known for terrorising the region.
ARREST MADE AND WEAPONS SEIZED
Rodriguez was apprehended in Piedecuesta by the Magdalena Medio Police, who seized a revolver and a 9-millimetre pistol during the arrest. Two of her accomplices were also taken into custody, including 24-year-old Paula Valentina Joya, known by the alias “Gorda Sicaria” or “Fat Hitwoman.”
Reports suggest Rodriguez had been actively expanding her operations in the criminal underworld, managing a group of hitmen responsible for multiple violent acts.
FROM A BOLD TEEN TO A NOTORIOUS FIGURE
Rodriguez’s journey into crime reportedly began at the age of 18. Spanish journalist Jacobo Solano Cerchiaro described her as bold and strong-willed, comparing her to a character from Colombian soap operas.
“Her figure has attracted attention due to her resemblance to Mara Fernanda Yepes, who portrayed Rosario Tijeras in the Netflix series inspired by Jorge Franco’s novel about a female assassin in Medelln,” Cerchiaro wrote.
VIOLENCE IN BUCARAMANGA
Bucaramanga, a city of over 1.3 million residents, has been grappling with high crime rates, with a homicide reported every three days, according to the World Population Review.
The arrest of “The Doll” and her accomplices is a significant step toward addressing organised crime and gang violence in the region. However, her chilling rise and alleged role in multiple murders underscore the ongoing challenges Colombian authorities face in combating such crimes.
