With 10 days left to go for the US presidential elections, the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio endorsed Democrat candidate Kamala Harris for the race to the White House.

Shedding light on his decision to support Kamala Harris, DiCaprio, in the video posted on his official Instagram handle, said, “Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy; we need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet, and ourselves. That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris.”

Expressing concern over climate change, the “Killers of the Flower Moon” star started his video while citing hurricanes Helene and Milton. “Make no mistake: These unnatural disasters were caused by climate change,” he said.

A vocal advocate for climate action, DiCaprio has previously supported Democratic candidates. He attended a Joe Biden fundraiser at the home of former Paramount Pictures chief Sherry Lansing in early 2020.

In the video, DiCaprio praised Vice President Kamala Harris for her ambitious goals to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and for her efforts to foster a green economy. He highlighted her role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act, noting that as vice president, Harris cast the deciding vote on President Biden’s landmark climate legislation, which passed with solely Democratic support.

He also slammed Donald Trump for pulling the United States from the Paris climate accord. “Donald Trump continues to deny the facts. He continues to deny science. He withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accords and rolled back environmental protections,” he said.

“Join me in voting for Kamala Harris on November 5th because we cannot afford to go backwards,” he said.

As the US presidential election day approaches, Kamala Harris has received endorsements from several celebrities, including Beyoncé, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, and George Clooney.

WHO IS LEADING IN SWING STATES: TRUMP OR HARRIS?

The race in the seven battleground states remains highly competitive, with no candidate holding a clear advantage, according to recent polling averages.

In Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, both campaigns have traded narrow leads since early August. Trump now holds a slight edge in each of these states.

In Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Harris led for most of August, often by margins of two or three points. But recent polling shows a tightening race, with Trump now edging slightly ahead in Pennsylvania.

These three states, once Democratic strongholds, flipped to Trump in 2016, helping him secure the presidency. Biden reclaimed them in 2020, and if Harris can do the same, her path to victory remains intact.
