Elon Musk, Tesla boss and the richest man in the world, donated $75 million to a pro-Trump political action committee (PAC) over the past three months, federal filings revealed on Tuesday. The significant donation highlights Musk’s growing influence in the Republican campaign for the November 5 presidential election, where Donald Trump is running against Democrat Kamala Harris.

Musk, once a supporter of Democratic candidates, endorsed Trump in July and appeared at a rally with him in Pennsylvania earlier this month. His involvement has shifted significantly to the right, as he campaigns in critical battleground states.

In Pennsylvania, an assassination attempt was made on Trump during a rally in Butler.

America PAC, the group backed by Musk, focuses on mobilising voters in swing states that could decide the election.

Between July and September, the PAC spent approximately $72 million of Musk’s donations on its voter outreach efforts. This makes it the largest pro-Trump PAC focused on increasing voter turnout.

Musk’s role as the PAC’s sole donor has solidified his position as a key figure in Trump’s campaign.

On Wednesday, Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he will be hosting talks across Pennsylvania, a vital swing state, encouraging more people to support Trump.

“I’ll be giving a series of talks throughout Pennsylvania,” Musk wrote, inviting attendees to sign up via the America PAC website.

Sources close to Musk revealed that he has long been privately funding conservative causes, well before his recent public endorsement of Trump.

America PAC, although starting later than some other Republican PACs, has faced hiring difficulties for door-knocking campaigns in competitive states. Despite these challenges, the group is crucial in Trump’s voter mobilisation strategy.

The PAC had around $4 million remaining at the end of September.

Meanwhile, other major pro-Trump donors, including casino billionaire Miriam Adelson, also made large contributions. Adelson donated $95 million to another pro-Trump PAC, Preserve America PAC, during the same period.
