US presidential election 2024: TikTok creator slams Kamala Harris, Oprah Winfrey after video used without consent in interview

A digital video creator on TikTok slammed Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Oprah Winfrey’s team, for using her video without permission during a recent town hall interview. TikTok user, Blaire Allison, hit out at Harris, vowing not to vote for her, and criticised the lack of notification from Winfrey’s team.

The town hall interview, aired last Thursday, featured clips of Americans sharing their concerns about rising living costs, including a clip from Allison’s TikTok account where she questioned, “How are people affording life right now?”

This TikTok video was originally posted in November 2023.

Allison took to TikTok again after her four-second clip was featured on television during Oprah’s interview with Harris.

In her new video, Allison imitated Harris’s speaking style.

“I do not support Harris for president,” she said, while criticising her leadership. She also revealed that Oprah Winfrey’s team did not ask for permission to use her video, leaving her unaware it would be included.

“I have made it very clear that I don’t support Kamala Harris at all,” Allison said in the video.

In an email to Fox News Digital, she expressed that she feels Harris has not prioritised Americans and lacks a plan to improve their livelihoods, reported Sky News.

Allison’s original TikTok highlighted the financial struggles of average Americans, particularly teachers and those on minimum wage, noting the impact of inflation and high living costs.

She expressed disappointment in the lack of communication from Winfrey’s team, saying, “I was disappointed that such a well-known talk show didn’t even notify me they were using my clip.”

Harris’s appearance at the town hall was part of the “Unite for America Rally”, where she addressed issues. While Harris has generally avoided extensive media appearances since announcing her run for president after Joe Biden stepped down from the White House on July 21 following the debate debacle with former President Donald Trump in Atlanta, she has begun granting more interviews in recent weeks.

The US presidential election is set for November 5 with five candidates vying for the top spot, but the main focus is on the intense competition between two front-runners — Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
