Former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama trained their guns on Donald Trump for his divisive rhetoric before offering their unwavering support to Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for the November presidential elections. In a powerful speech at the Democratic National Convention, Obama said Trump was a “danger” to the country while underscoring that the United States cannot afford another four years of “chaos under his leadership”.

“Donald Trump sees power as nothing more than a means to his ends. We have seen that movie before, and we all know that the sequel is usually worse,” Obama said.

Obama, who received a rockstar welcome at the Chicago convention, asserted that Trump was “afraid of losing to Harris” and accused him of spreading conspiracy theories. He also left the crowd in splits with his hand gesture to assert that Trump had a “weird obsession with crowd sizes”.

“Who will fight for me? Who’s thinking about my future? About my children’s future? About our future together?” Obama said while noting, “One thing is for certain, Donald Trump is not losing sleep over that question.”

Referring to the former President, Obama said the 78-year-old billionaire has not stopped “whining about his problems” since he rode down his “golden escalator” nine years ago.

“The other day, I heard someone compare Trump to the neighbour who keeps running his leaf blower outside your window every minute of every day,” Obama, one of the most powerful voices in the Democratic Party, said.

“Now, from a neighbour, that’s exhausting. From a president, that’s just dangerous,” he said. “We do not need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos,” the former President said before signing off.
