Firefighter Corey Comperatore, who died while trying to protect his family during the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, was very active on X and some of his posts have now sparked a debate. In particular, Comperatore’s posts on the war in Gaza have drawn heavy criticism.

One post that has received a significant amount of attention is Comperatore’s reply to broadcaster Piers Morgan’s tweet on news that said over a million people had fled their homes in Gaza following a warning from Israel.

“Where are these Palestinians going to live when the war is over? So many of their homes are being destroyed,” Piers Morgan replied to the post by Sky News on October 28, 2023.

Comperatore replied to Morgan’s post by saying, “They’ll get over it. The Japanese did.”

The remark by Comperatore was seen as a reference to the atomic bombings of Japan’s Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, which killed tens of thousands of people.

Comperatore’s remark has prompted a string of reactions on X, with one user saying, “Your tweets is your legacy. Don’t be like this guy.”

“This is a reminder that the version we present to the world today, may be the only version many people ever know about you. Be mindful of how you interact with the world around you,” another one posted.

A third tweeted, “First I felt bad for the guy but after seeing this I feel like it’s some form of karma.”

Several of his tweets indicated that the avid supporter of Donald Trump was against the United States providing military aid to Ukraine to fight Russia.

Former United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in a post on X in 2023, claimed that the US would lose if Ukraine lost the war to Russia.

“The least costly way to move forward is to provide Ukraine with the weapons needed to win and end the war,” Pompeo had said.

“And what exactly will our great loss?” Comperatore replied to Pompeo’s tweet.

In another post, the firefighter said he would rather save Russian President Vladimir Putin instead of Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

Nevertheless, Comperatore, a father of two girls, is being hailed as a hero for shielding them from the gunfire during Trump’s Pennsylvania rally.

The former Buffalo Township volunteer fire chief was shot by Thomas Matthew Crooks at the rally that left Trump and two others injured. Crooks was shot dead by US Secret Service agents. However, the motive behind the shooting is yet to be revealed by the police.
