Two days after blood-stained suitcases containing human remains were found at Clifton Suspension Bridge in the UK’s Bristol, sending police into a tizzy, a person was arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident, The Guardian reported.

A 34-year-old Colombian national, Yostin Andres Mosquera, was arrested at a railway station in Bristol after frantic searches by police in a mysterious case that had the whole nation hooked.

As Scotland Yard launched a manhunt for the suspect, they stumbled upon more human remains at a flat in west London.

On Wednesday, Avon and Somerset police received a call after a man was seen acting suspiciously on the bridge. When the police arrived at the scene, they found a suitcase. A second suitcase was found nearby and both contained human remains.

Following the discovery, the iconic bridge, built in 1864, was closed for more than 24 hours.

In the course of the investigation, police found further human remains in a flat in Scotts Road in west London. Police said the remains found in the suitcases and in the flat belong to two men.

On Thursday, police released an image of the suspect after he was seen apparently dumping the suitcases on the bridge before fleeing on foot close to midnight.

“We understand the concerns of local communities in both Bristol and London and officers will remain in the Clifton and Shepherd’s Bush areas over the coming days to reassure those affected by this tragic incident,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said at a press briefing.
