A 43-year-old special education teacher at Freehold Intermediate School in New Jersey was arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a minor student, the authorities stated. Allison Havemann-Niedrach was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S Santiago.
According to the probe, Allison allegedly began sexually abusing a student earlier this year; however, the authorities have not revealed how this came to light or how many times she had assaulted the student, the New York Post reported. The age of the student has not been disclosed, but the school is attended by students from grades 6 to 8.
She is currently being held at the Monmouth County jail pending a detention hearing. A hearing will be held to ascertain whether she will continue to be under arrest while awaiting trial.
The prosecutor’s office is urging anyone with information about her activities to come forward. “Anyone with information about Havemann-Niedrach’s activities is being urged to contact MCPO Detective Dawn Correia at 800-533-7443,” the release read.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Havemann-Niedrach has been a special education teacher at Freehold Intermediate School since March 2022 and has a history of teaching and substitute teaching at several schools since 2008.
She describes herself as a “passionate, results-driven, and sincere educator. Poised and competent, she thrives in performance-driven environments. Demonstrated the history of a ‘do what it takes’ work ethic and truly differentiated instruction.”
Meanwhile, the teacher’s advocate said in a statement that she “maintains her innocence” and refused to comment further.
