Israel-Hamas war: Hamas squad commander sniper, part of Oct 7 attack, killed in Israeli strike in Gaza

Ahmed Hassan Salame Alsauarka, a Hamas squad commander and sniper who took part in the Oct. 7 massacre in southern Israel, was killed in a strike in northern Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Thursday.

The deadly strike on Alsauarka was conducted based on intelligence gathered by the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA).

“IAF aircraft conducted a precise and targeted strike to eliminate the Hamas terrorist Ahmed Hassan Salame Alsauarka in the area of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza,” IDF tweeted, sharing the video of the strike.

The video of the operation, which shows a precision airstrike resulting in an explosion that eliminated the terrorist.

“Alsauarka was a squad commander in the Nukhba Forces who infiltrated into and carried out attacks on communities in southern Israel during the Oct. 7 Massacre, resulting in the death of 1,189 people,” the IDF wrote.

The IDF claimed that multiple steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians during the operation and no civilians were reported injured in the strike.

“Alsauarka led and directed sniper activity in the area of Beit Hanoun and took part in Hamas’ attacks on IDF troops. Prior to the strike, a number of steps were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians during the operation. As a result, no civilians were injured during the strike,” IDF wrote.

The Israeli military continues to operate in central Gaza, focusing on eliminating immediate threats and destroying terrorist infrastructure. Recently, Israeli forces targeted and destroyed a mortar shell launch site used to attack their troops.
