More than 550 pilgrims died due to extreme heat during Hajj in Saudi Arabia, according to AFP.
The deceased include 323 Egyptians, about 60 from Jordan, and 35 from Tunisia. They had come to perform the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.
Major causes of death were crush incidents, tent fires, and heat-related accidents. Temperatures in Mecca’s main mosque reached +51°C this week.
