Canada has arrested a fourth person and charged him with the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canadian police said on Saturday.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) informed that they have arrested one Amandeep Singh and charged him with first-degree murder and conspiracy of Nijjar’s killing.

22-year-old Amandeep Singh, an Indian national residing in Brampton, Surrey and Abbotsford, was already in custody in Ontario for unrelated firearms charges, said IHIT.

“This arrest shows the nature of our ongoing investigation to hold responsible those that played a role in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” said Mandeep Mooker, IHIT officer in-charge.

Amandeep Singh is now the fourth person arrestd in the case alongside Karan Brar (22), Kamalpreet Singh (22), Karanpreet Singh (28). The trio have been arrested under the same charges in connection to Nijjar’s killing.

Nijjar was killed in a targeted shooting in Canada’s Surrey outside a gurdwara. His name had been included in a list released by the Indian government with 40 other ‘designated terrorists’.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing, in which Canada sees an Indian role, has been a thorn in bilateral ties.

Indo-Canadian ties had nosedived after Canada’s allegations of an Indian role in Nijjar’s killings. India had earlier blamed Trudeau and his party of vote-bank politics for wooing Khalistanis.
