King Charles made frequent visits to her daughter-in-law Kate Middleton in her hospital room while they were both being treated for their surgeries at London Clinic in January, according to a report. This came days after Kate Middleton, in a video message, revealed on Friday that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

The 75-year-old king, who underwent enlarged prostate surgery, “toddled” down the hospital’s hallway in a robe to meet the 42-year-old Princess of Wales, who was recovering from abdominal surgery, The New York Post reported, citing a report from The Times.

According to the newspaper, King Charles, who is also diagnosed with cancer, has been encouraging and supporting Kate Middleton throughout her recovery journey.

According to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, Charles “has remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks” since then.

“The King has always had a close, warm and unique relationship with the princess. She has a great love and respect for him and his position,” a source close to King Charles told The Times.

The palace said King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla “will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time”.

The King and the Queen Consort have been in touch with Kate Middleton over the past several weeks as tensions within the royal family dimmed as both families have been diagnosed with serious medical conditions, The Sunday Times reported.

Kate Middleton, in her video message, said she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer, which was discovered after her abdominal surgery. She said the diagnosis came as a “huge shock” to her and her family, but added that she is “well and getting stronger every day”.

Following her announcement, King Charles said he was “so proud” of the Princess of Wales for her strength in going public with her cancer diagnosis.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and US President Joe Biden were among the prominent personalities who wished good health to the Princess of Wales, who said she was “enormously touched” by global support.

Kate Middleton, whose long absence from public life triggered speculation and multiple conspiracy theories, said she and her husband, Prince William (41) were “doing everything” to process her cancer discovery and “manage this privately for the sake of our young family”.
