Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad in a video
The father of Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, Naushad, had to send a warning to cricket fans after ‘fake accounts’, impersonating him cropped up on social media, asking people for money on the pretext of selection as IPL net bowlers, cricket academies, and state teams. In a video, Sarfarz’s father highlighted how several fake social media accounts have surfaced on different platforms, trying to lure aspiring cricketers into spending money for selection in different tournaments. Naushad urged budding cricketers to believe in their talent and hard work over such people running scams.
“On my name, a lot of people have made fake accounts on Facebook and Instagram. On the pretext of getting entry into the IPL as net bowlers, or for state, academy selection, those accounts are asking kids for money.
“I request you to not believe them and trust your own hard work. I am not associated with any IPL team, and neither am I coaching anywhere. Please don’t believe them. Thank you so much!,” he concluded.
Naushad was with his son Sarfaraz as the latter made his debut in the third Test against England in Rajkot. The father-son story took social media by storm as fans came to know of the sacrifices the entire family made.
Sarfaraz’s younger brother Musheer is also a cricketer and has been taking the domestic cricket by storm in the Ranji Trophy, while playing for the Mumbai state team.
Since making his debut for India in the third Test against England, Sarfaraz has developed his status as a reliable player for the national team. Though he didn’t have the finest of outings in the 4th Test at Ranchi, Sarfaraz is all but certain to keep hold of his pace in the team for the 5th Test in Dharamsala.
