After years of toiling in the domestic circuit, batter Sarfaraz Khan was finally rewarded with an India Test cap ahead of the ongoing third game against England in Rajkot. Despite scoring runs aplenty, Sarfaraz was often ingored by the selectors. However, his moment arrived on Thursday, February 15 as former India captain Anil Kumble handed Sarfaraz his debut cap ahead of toss. In 45 First Class matches, Sarfaraz scored 3,912 runs at an average of 69.85. On debut, Sarafarz hit a quickfire 62 before a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja led to his dismissal.

After Sarfaraz was rewarded for his years of hardwork in Ranji Trophy, veteran cricketer Dinesh Karthik vouched for Tamil Nadu batter Baba Indrajith’s selection.

While pointing out that Indrajith averages nearly 77 in the ongoing domestic season, Karthik hoped that the batter would soon get called for India ‘A’ and eventually the senior men’s Test team.

“More power my brother,” Karthik wrote in a detailed post.

On Friday, Indrajith struck an unbeaten 122 and shared an unbroken 184-run partnership with Vijay Shankar as hosts Tamil Nadu reached 291 for 4 against Punjab on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match.

After electing to bat, TN were reduced to 64 for 3 and then 107 for 4 before Indrajith and Shankar revived their innings. The duo batted for 53.3 overs without separation.

At stumps on the opening day, Shankar, who came at No. 6, was batting on 85 with the help of six boundaries.

Coming to bat at No. 4, Indrajith was much more quicker as his 122 not out came from 181 deliveries and was studded with six boundaries.

Other Tamil Nadu batters did not make much of an impact.
