In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal requested India to help the war-torn eastern European country restore its economy by sending back students and conducting trade like before. He also called India one of Ukraine’s biggest economic partners, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “global leader” and praising the Centre for extending help and humanitarian support to Kyiv.

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched military offensives and the invasion of Ukraine before dawn on February 24, 2022. Nearly 702 days later, the Ukrainian Prime Minister did admit that “large part of Ukraine” was not at peace.

“PM Modi is a global leader who is working for world peace. A large part of Ukraine is now peaceful, and I would request India to help us make an economic comeback by sending students and businesses as before,” he said.

Congratulating India on its 75th Republic Day, the Ukrainian Prime Minister praised the “velocity with which India is moving ahead”.
