A family of four was found dead in New City on the outskirts of New York on Saturday.

Police suspect that Watson Morgan, 49, a sergeant with Bronxville Police Department, shot dead his wife Ornela Morgan, and both their sons, aged 10 and 12, before dying by suicide.

In a statement on Facebook, Clarkstown Police Department said that the bodies were found while they performed a “welfare check: on Morgan’s house at around midnight on Saturday.

“At this phase in the investigation it is believed that Watson killed his wife and two children, before killing himself,” the police stated.

Police also said that a handgun was recovered from the scene.

They further said that it was “an isolated incident” and there was no threat to anyone.

In a statement, Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale said the killings left the department with “profoundly broken hearts at the senseless loss of innocent lives.”

“Our hearts go out to Sergeant Morgan’s extended family. Our thoughts and prayers are also with his Bronxville Police Department family,” he said.
