Mysterious objects in the air have been spotted in several parts of US, triggering curiosity and panic among the people.
On Thursday, UFOs were spotted over Fairfield, Connecticut, adding to a growing list of mysterious drone sightings in the region, according to a Fox News report.
Videos posted on social media showed several drones hovering over the suburb, located 55 miles northeast of New York City.
One user filmed at least five drones near the Fairfield train station, remarking that they were at different levels and appeared quieter than typical hobbyist drones. “They don’t fly this far and this quiet,” she said in the video. Another person also noted seeing drones between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m., calling them “definitely not planes.”
The latest incident in Connecticut is part of a series of recent drone sightings across New Jersey and New York.
Multiple reports of drones in the skies over New Jersey’s largest reservoir and near LaGuardia Airport in New York have sparked concern among locals.
The sightings have also raised questions about their origin.
So far, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not provided an explanation.
The Pentagon has not identified where the drones are coming from, although it denied claims that they were launched from an Iranian “mothership.”
Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said” “There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there’s no so-called ‘mothership’ launching drones toward the United States.”
White House national security adviser John Kirby also played down the concern, saying that there is no evidence the drones pose a national security or public safety threat.
Meanwhile, FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are investigating the mysterious drone activity.
There have been over 3,000 reports made to the FBI since November.
The Pentagon noted that many of the reported sightings may be misidentifications of manned aircraft operating legally.
“We are supporting local law enforcement in New Jersey with numerous detection methods but have not corroborated any of the reported visual sightings with electronic detection,” said a Pentagon spokesperson.
In New Jersey, the Picatinny Arsenal, a military facility developing robotic drones to counter weapons of mass destruction, has recorded 17 confirmed and unconfirmed drone sightings since November. While the facility’s activities are not linked to the recent drone sightings, some residents claim they see as many as 30 drones per night in the area, fueling growing unease.
Despite the mystery surrounding the origin of the drones, authorities are continuing to investigate the situation and work with local law enforcement.
