A 7-year-old Ohio girl, who was kidnapped by her father from her grandmother’s house, begged her armed father not to kill her during his standoff with cops, saying “I don’t want to go to heaven today”.

Charles Ryan Alexander, 43, forcibly took his seven-year-old daughter, Oaklynn, from her grandmother’s residence in Jefferson County. Notably, Alexander did not possess legal custody of Oaklynn at the time of the abduction, according to The New York Post.

The situation escalated when the Brunswick Division of Police issued an Amber Alert, initiating a widespread search after locating Oaklynn in Brunswick. Despite attempts by law enforcement to execute a traffic stop, Alexander’s vehicle did not stop, prompting cops to use stop sticks to deflate Alexander’s tires.

This action led to a tense standoff between Alexander and the police. During the standoff, audio recordings captured Alexander’s threats to cops. “I will shoot us both, stand back!” he can be heard saying in the audio released by police.

In the background, little Oaklynn’s voice trembled as she pleaded with her father, repeatedly saying, “Please don’t”.

Amid the distressing moments, Alexander directed his frustration toward the girl’s mother, declaring, “I wanna talk to her mother. If you’re listening, Ashley, you should’ve called”.

The conversation became muffled before Oaklynn asked her father, “Are we both going to heaven?” When he responded, “We’ll both go?” she questioned further, asking, “I am going to heaven?” Realising the implication, she yelled, “No! I don’t want to go to heaven today”. Alexander responded, “I didn’t want it to happen either, I just wanted to talk to your mother”.

Meanwhile, a 911 dispatcher intervened, telling Alexander, “I know you didn’t want to hurt [your daughter] and you didn’t want it to be like this,” and added, “Let’s not do anything we can’t undo”.

Oaklynn is heard repeatedly asking if she is “going to heaven today”, crying out, “I don’t want to”. Another dispatcher advised Alexander to keep talking to his daughter to calm her, saying, “Just keep talking to her if you don’t want her to be scared”.

The dispatcher continued, urging, “Let’s not do anything that is going to make it even more unfair to her, cause you love her, I know you do”.

As the standoff continued, one of the cops opened fire and killed Alexander on the spot, The New York Post reported. Oaklynn was later safely returned to her family after her father was killed in front of her.
