US Vice-President Kamala Harris shared her Diwali wishes on Thursday and posted a short video showing her and others celebrating the festival of lights.

“Tonight, we join more than 1 billion people across America and around the world lighting diyas and celebrating the fight for good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness.Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating the Festival of Lights,” she tweeted.

Kamala Harris is currently embroiled in a painstakingly close presidential election with former President Donald Trump. She took over US President Joe Biden in the presidential race just a couple of months ago and has been working to shore up critical votes around the country against her Republican opponent.

Trump’s wish on X was more elaborate. The former president highlighted the violence faced by Hindus in the aftermath of the political power struggle in Bangladesh.

“I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are getting attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh, which remains in a total state of chaos,” wrote Trump.

“It would have never happened on my watch. Kamala and Joe have ignored Hindus across the world and in America. They have been a disaster from Israel to Ukraine to our own Southern Border, but we will Make America Strong Again and bring back Peace through Strength,” he said.

Trrump added that if he is re-elected, he would fight for Hindus and work to strengthen the US’s partnership with India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Kamala Harris will destroy your small businesses with more regulations and higher taxes. By contrast, I cut taxes, cut regulations, unleashed American energy, and built the greatest economy in history. We will do it again, bigger and better than ever before—and we will Make America Great Again,” wrote Trump before gracefully ending his post.

Donald Trump wishes Indian on Diwali

“Also, Happy Diwali to All. I hope the Festival of Lights leads to the Victory of Good over Evil!”

Both the presidential candidates will be preparing as the nation gets ready to vote on November 5 and decide the next president of the country.
