US Presidential Elections: Donald Trump acknowledges pulling out of CBS interview, demands apology to reconsider

Donald Trump on Wednesday acknowledged pulling out of the CBS news program 60 Minutes interview he had agreed to do as a part of the news channel’s election coverage, and laid out his conditions for considering it again.

Trump was asked about him pulling out of the interview by a reporter.

“But first, I would like to get an apology because the last time I did an interview with them, if you remember, they challenged me on the computer. They said the laptop from hell was from Russia. And I said, it wasn’t from Russia, it was from Hunter [Biden]. And I never got an apology, so I’m sort of waiting,” Trump responded to the reporter. “I’d love to do 60 minutes.”

Trump added that he has asked the organisation for an apology but hasn’t received one yet, and that he loves the 60 Minutes segment, noting he has done it in the past.

It is unclear whether an interview with the former president will still take place as the country gears up for the fast-approaching presidential elections on November 5. Trump is currently involved in a tight race for the White House with US Vice President and the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, with both polling well in different states.

Trump has been busy in the last few days campaigning in the areas hit by Hurricane Helena and pointing fingers at the Biden administration for providing enough relief to those affected. Meanwhile, Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, put in a shift at the first vice-presidential debate against Harris’s running mate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
