Kiarra Jones, a former paraprofessional at Littleton Public Schools, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old autistic child on a school bus.
The abuse included punching, stomping on the child’s feet, and hitting his legs, causing visible bruises and injuries. The incidents were captured on surveillance footage, which showed Jones punching the child so hard that his head flung back, causing him to cry and push her away. The police suspect that there may be additional victims.
The child’s mother, Jessica Vestal, became suspicious when she noticed bruising on her son’s foot and thigh and contacted the school and transportation department for an explanation. After reviewing the footage, law enforcement contacted Vestal and charged Jones with abuse.
In response to the incident, Vestal has made the video footage public through her attorney, hoping to bring attention to the issue and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
