A 74-year-old teacher in the US city of Indianapolis was allegedly beaten by a student with a laptop on February 1, leaving him with a black eye. The teacher described the student as a “man child” due to his size and the intensity of the attack, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
The student, who was six feet two inches tall and weighing around 280 pounds , allegedly assaulted the teacher, Rob Gooding, with a laptop before physically beating him to the ground and punching him in the face, the Daily Mail reported.
The attack left Gooding with significant facial injuries, including a black eye and swelling, as per the report. Paramedics were called to the scene to provide medical assistance to the injured teacher.
Following the assault, Gooding expressed his desire to have the student arrested and prosecuted for his actions. However, he claims that school officials refused to allow the arrest, citing instructions from the district, according to the Daily Mail.
Despite Gooding’s request for the student’s arrest, he was informed by a school resource officer that the district had instructed not to handcuff or arrest the student.
Gooding remains adamant that the student should be held accountable for his actions. “He has to be accountable for his actions and that’s what I feel,” he stated. The case is currently under investigation, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has yet to make a decision regarding charges against the student, according to the report.
